Event Logistics

Delegates should plan on arriving in Nairobi on Sunday 6th April 2025.

Getting to the Conference Venue from Nairobi
IWEC is offering two shuttle times, leaving from the Tamarind Tree Hotel in Nairobi. The journey will take approximately 3.5-4 hours (depending on traffic).


•⁠  ⁠Sunday 6th April – shuttles will depart at 1pm
•⁠  ⁠Monday 7th April – shuttles will depart at 8.30 am

 

Returning from the Conference Venue to Nairobi
On Friday 11th and Saturday 12th April, shuttles will depart from the hotel at 9 am for Nairobi. You will have the option to go straight to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) or be dropped at Tamarind Tree Hotel. 

If you prefer to make your own transport arrangements, we can recommend using William Njagi who has a fleet of taxis. WhatsApp: +254-722-318-121

Transport to Nanyuki Option #2: Leaving at 8:30am from Tamarind Tree Hotel. 

ESG members meeting in Nanyuki at the conference venue at 2pm.

Presentations

Poster Presentations

For those who have been accepted for poster presentations, prepare your research for display on a 48x36” poster (landscape or portrait) to take advantage of our dedicated poster sessions. These interactive sessions allow delegates to engage directly with presenters, offering an opportunity to discuss insights and findings in an informal setting. For more information on creating your poster find resources here or watch this video

Oral Presentations

Each speaker will have 15 minutes to present their work, followed by a 5-minute Q&A session.

Travelling to Kenya

International flights land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). Delegates coming from outside the East African Community are required to obtain a new Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA). You can apply for your eTA here. Find more information about eTA here.

Nairobi Accommodation

Hotel suggestions for Nairobi:

For airport transfers, you may use the airport taxis or arrange a shuttle from your hotel. Uber and taxis are a reliable means of transport for within Nairobi. If you would prefer a specific contact, we recommend taxi driver William Njagi (WhatsApp: +254-722- 318-121).

Travel from Nairobi to Nanyuki

Transportation 1pm on Sunday 6th April and on the morning of Monday 7th April will depart from Tamarind Tree Hotel. The drive to the venue, Aberdare Prestige & Royal Cottages, in Nanyuki is approximately 3.5 hours from Nairobi.

Optional Field Trip

The final day of the conference (11th April) will be a optional field trip to see Grevy's zebra in the wild at Mpala Research Centre in Laikipia County.

 

Field Trip Cost: USD 65
